WILLIAM EDWIN LINDAL March 18, 1915 - March 15, 2008 Peacefully on March 15, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, our beloved Dad and Audie passed away at the age of 92. He was predeceased in 2001 by Kay, his beloved wife of 59 years. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Joy (Frank) Novotny and Judy (Ron) Pisiak; grandchildren, Shawn (Wendy), Krista (Mark), Katrina and Laura; great-grandchildren, Seth and Willow; sisters-in-law, Vi, Laura, Polly, Lee, Myrtle; brothers-in-law, Ben (Gail), and numerous, nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Sigridur and Christopher and step-father Barney Olafson; sister Gurdy, brothers, Ben, Earl, Roy; brothers-in-law, Jack and Kart; sisters-in-law, Pearl and Mary, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law of Mom's. Dad was an accomplished finishing carpenter by trade, who served in the Air Force during the Second World War and ended his career at the Department of Public Works. He was really proud of his large well-equipped workshop at the Main Post Office. Even though he was retired he continued to apply his trade doing work for family and friends. He was a life-long member of the St. Vital Legion, where Mom and Dad both enjoyed Saturday Bingo and especially Saturday Night dancing with their many friends. Dad enjoyed hunting and fishing his whole life and at the age of 92 took up another pastime painting pictures. Thank you to the caring Home Care workers that allowed our Dad to stay in his home all these years. Thanks to all the nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital during his final journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) with a gathering of family and friends to follow.
