EMILY MARIE CARRIERE On Monday, March 17, 2008 at 9:25 a.m. Emily Marie Carrière, age 92, died peacefully at Tache Centre. Emily was born on May 19, 1915 in Mill River, PEI and was an Acadian baptized at St. Anthony Church on Duvar Rd. As a child, she moved with her family to Albert Beach, Manitoba, and then to St. Boniface, where she attended St. Joseph's Academy. As a young woman, Emily was active in Les Gais Manitobain. She married Amedée Carrière on April 19, 1939 at St. Boniface Cathedral and is the mother of four children: Lucille (Claude) Bouvier, Claudette (Ted) Murphy, Gerry (Sharron), and Raymond (Brenda). Also known as Emilie and Patsy, she was involved with the Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, White Missionary Fathers of Africa, and many other church organizations. Emily enjoyed camping at St. Ambroise on Lake Manitoba, was a dedicated correspondent with family and friends from far and wide, and was the family genealogist. After 60 years of loving marriage, she was predeceased by Amedée on February 20, 2000 and was also predeceased by her siblings Rita Voyer and Edwin Gallant. She is survived by her sisters Josephine Dubé and Rose Bertrand. As Memere she has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, she was a woman of great faith, strong will and deep love for family. The funeral will be held at Holy Cross Parish Church, 252 Dubuc St. at Traverse, March 26, at 2:00 p.m. The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Tache Centre.
