Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN GUSZTAK (nee WLOCH) It is with deep sorrow that the family of Helen Gusztak announces her sudden passing on Sunday, March 16, 2008. Helen was born on July 27, 1923 in selo Choriw, povit Yaroslav, Western Ukraine. She was married to Wasyl Gusztak in Munich, Germany on Easter Monday, 1949. They immigrated to Canada in 1950, settling in Winnipeg. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Wasyl Gusztak, sons, Dr. Lewko W. Gusztak (Anna) and Danylo D. Gusztak (Sandra) and her grandchildren, Roman, Christina, Andrew, Stefan, Ivan, Katherine, Elizabeth (Don), Simon and Paul. Helen worked at St. Boniface Hospital as a Nurse's Aide for many years until her retirement in 1988. She was loved and appreciated by both colleagues and patients for the tender loving care she provided to all she attended. Following her retirement she became active in the community as a member of various organizations including St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church Choir, Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, Ukrainian Canadian Institute Prosvita, New Horizon Seniors Club and the Dumka Choir. Prayers will be sung at Korban Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Her grandsons will be her pallbearers. Donations in Helen's memory to Institute Prosvita, 777 Pritchard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2X 0E8 will be gratefully accepted in lieu of flowers. Helen leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, honour and strength of character that will be remembered always by her children, her grandchildren and those who had the privilege of knowing her.
