Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNIE ZAPORZAN (nee GUNN) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Donnie (Donna) Zaporzan at the St. Boniface Hospital on March 19, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves to celebrate her life, her husband Walter her precious granddaughter Madison Mae Harvey, son Robbie Zaporzan, and daughter Leora Almstrom (Bruce Harvey), all of Winnipeg. She is also survived by two sisters Gladys Peterson of Selkirk and Janis Elliott (Keith) of Merritt, BC, and her brother Rob Gunn (Betty) of Winnipeg. Donnie was admired by many for her generous and giving nature. Her extended family and friends responded in kind with constant companionship and care throughout her lengthy illness. She was humbled by the attention. Donnie was a committed volunteer in several organizations including Cancer Care Manitoba and Eastern Star. The family wishes to thank Dr. Heather Domke, the entire staff of the Palliative Care ward at St. B and in particular Dr. Ted St. Goddard. Their dedication and commitment was remarkable. The celebration of Donnie's life will be held Monday, March 24, 2008 at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West at 1:00 p.m. The service will be provided by her friend, the Reverend Carol Fletcher. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Lee, I never had the opportunity to meet your mother, however, having lost both of my parents and a sister to cancer, I can appreciate how difficult the death of your mother is.
