Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILFRED GUIMOND Unexpectedly, on March 18, 2008 at the Fisher Personal Care Home, Wilfred Guimond passed away. Wilfred was predeceased by his parents Camille and Elpherida; three sisters and their husbands, Aurise (Al), Mariange (George), and Marie Anna; two brothers, Rosario and Alfred; two brothers in infancy; as well as brother-in-law Paul Longtin and sister-in-law Therese Guimond. He is survived by his sisters, Elzire (Maurice) Desjardins, Therese Longtin; and sister-in-law Jean Guimond as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wilfred was born in Fisher Branch on March 21, 1919. He attended school at Fisher Branch, but left at an early age to help his father on the family farm. In December of 1940 Wilfred joined the army. He took his basic training at Fort Osborne Barracks and then advanced training in New Brunswick and Gander, Newfoundland. From Gander, Wilfred was transferred to the Bahamas where he spent two years in active duty. While there he had the special assignment of guarding the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Wilfred returned home to Canada when the war was over. He was discharged on May 29, 1946. Following his return home, he worked on the farm, was engaged in logging, and worked for a local business, Victor Savage and M.S.R. Building Supplies. Wilfred was a quiet man who enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, especially the round table, and in his early years he also enjoyed dancing. The family would like to thank special nephews, Real Desjardins and Bradley Guimond for their care of Uncle Wilfred's welfare over the past few years. We would also like to thank the staff at the Fisher Personal Care Home and Home Care Worker, Shirley Lavallee for the exceptional care provided. Pallbearers are Roland Desjardins, Joseph Hogue, Mark Guimond, Paul Longtin, Brad Guimond, and Real Desjardins.
