May 13, 1933 March 20, 2008 It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sydney Joseph Church Sr. Buddy / Bucky was predeceased by father Sidney, mother Mary and sister Joan. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ruth Church; seven children, Mary Jean (Owen) Jones, Linda (Randy) Owen, Kathleen (Bruce) Weir, Sydney Jr. (Karen) Church, Donna (Lucien) Bourcier, William (Sharon) Church and Candace (Joe) Watt. Papa will also be sadly missed by his 18 grandchildren, Jennifer, Tammy (Kevin), Ryan, Krista (Barry), Timothy, Melissa (Jordan), Brian, Rhianna, Lyndsay, Kyle, Paige, Christopher, Vicky, Tiffany, Rachel, Matthew, Korrie, Kylie; three great-grandsons, Travis, Carter and Dylan. Syd also leaves behind sisters, Lil (Gordon) Page, Pat (Frank) Sands and brother Fred (Dolores) Church, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dad loved life and enjoyed spending time with his many friends and relatives, two legged, four legged and winged. Syd was stationed in Korea from 1950 to 1953 with the RCHA. He was an avid sportsman, and passed along this passion to all his family. Dad always worked hard, holding multiple jobs to support a large family and still found time to share with everyone. He will be sadly missed. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2008, 10:00 am at Thomson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Our family would like to thank the 5th floor nursing staff at Poseidon Care Center.
