RUI DURVAL OLIVEIRA (PAPPA) June 25, 1942 March 24, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rui Oliveira; devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Rui leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 40 years Alcinda, sons Ricardo of Spain, Rui of Portugal, Gilberto (Carla), Marc (Christina), and Kevin and daughter Maria (Jim). Devoted grandfather to Shawntel, Matthew, Ricky, Kyle, Alley, Timmy, Melissa, Vicky, Sammy, Selena, Dylan, Britney and Jaimie and great-grandfather to André and Johnathan. He will also be missed by brothers Joào (Fatima) and Tony, sisters; Octavia (Joao), Alda (Manuel), Maria (Carlos), Gilda, Niveria (Manuel), Graça (Joao), and Lucy (Joào Jose), sisters-in-law; Donaria, Leonilde, Luisa and Luzia, brothers-in-law; Manuel, Jose, Joao and Francisco, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Deolinda and Domiciano Oliveira and brothers Domiciano and Valter, in-laws Emelia and Manuel Sousa, niece Delia and nephew Manuel. Rui was born in Sa Miguel Acores. He immigrated to Canada in 1972 and began his new life with his family. Pappa loved spending time with family and friends and loved to spend his summers at Netley Creek Resorts. He enjoyed endless hours of gardening and carving ornaments. Services honoring Rui's life will be held at Blessed John XXIII Parish, 3390 Portage Ave. Prayers will be said Thursday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Maurice Comeault presiding. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Family would like to thank the ICU Staff at Grace Hospital for all their compassionate care. A very special thank you to Dr. Padua and staff.
