ROBERT (ROB) PAUL FOURNIER August 26, 1959 March 23, 2008 It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Fournier after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind to cherish the memories, his wife of 18 years, Sandy, his son Colin, stepdaughter Jeannine Crossman and granddaughter Mariah. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing his father Paul Fournier, sisters, Jocelyne (Harri), Lucille (Daniel), Lianne and his brother Gilles (Carolyn). He will also be missed by his in-laws, Margaret and Al Crossman, Arlene Guerard (Rick) and Jamie Crossman (Sandi), as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Marie on December 28, 2007. Rob and Sandy met in 1987 and Rob became an instant dad to Jeannine who was five at the time. As soon as the kids were old enough both Jeannine and Colin and now Mariah were signed up for baseball. They spent many years driving the kids to games with Rob sometimes coaching. In more recent years Rob and Sandy played slo-pitch with the community club and made many good friends that have been so supportive. Rob loved his hockey also, sometimes playing on one or two teams a season. Even during his illness, on a good day he would get on the ice and play once a week. Rob also loved fishing and spent many summers at Hecla and Lake of the Woods with family and friends doing just that. There were many fun stories to be told. Rob was employed with Protelec Alarms for 20 years and was a dedicated, reliable and articulate worker right up to his last day. He made lasting friends there, Scott and Donny Bo just to name a few. Rob, unlike many, had the love of his childhood friends and their families who have been so helpful during these difficult months. John, Claude, Danny, Dave and Denis, we are truly grateful. Rob also held a special place in his heart for his granddaughter Mariah. They spent time together cooking, bike riding and fishing. She will always love her Papa . Rob was a man of few words but his little shots of humour and his wonderful smile will always be remembered. Rob, I will miss my best friend and dance partner and of course your wonderful cooking. Love you forever, Sandy We would like to thank Dr. R. Wong and Dr. J. Gingerich as well as the nurses at CancerCare St. Boniface for all the care given to Rob. Also, a big thank you to Nurse Jennifer who stayed with us to the very end at home. A special thank you to all the family for their love and support. Flowers are gratefully declined, but if anyone so wishes, a donation in Rob's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, RM ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9 (ph 787-4143) or St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, D1003-409 Taché Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 (ph 237-2067). A celebration of Rob's life will take place on Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street with Father Ron Leger presiding.
