Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY EVA SEIFRED (JOHNSTON) Dorothy passed away peacefully on January 2, 2008, at the age of 88 at Mt. Tolmie Extended Care Hospital in Victoria, following a stroke. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family: son John of Vancouver; daughter Anne Kirkaldy, husband Ron and grandchildren Ewan and Allison of Victoria; son Bruce, wife Sandra Sobko and grandson Stefan of Calgary; and son Grant, wife, Marilyn and grandchildren Alexander and Natasha of Burlington, Ontario. Dorothy was predeceased in 2004 by her loving husband of 61 years Edward, in 1988 by her eldest son Edward (Ted), and in the previous decade by her younger brother Robert of Los Angeles, California. Born on April 1, 1919, in Winnipeg, Dorothy graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.A. and BEd. There she met Ed. They married in 1943 and started a family after Eds service overseas. Dorothy always maintained a loving home throughout their frequent transfers across Western Canada in support of Eds career as a comptroller for Hudsons Bay Company. In 1978 Dorothy and Ed retired to Victoria where they honed their golf and bridge skills, travelled the world and first experienced the joys of grandparenting. Mom was a sweet and loving woman and a most devoted, attentive and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
