Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALDEN REID WEST Peacefully, after a brief illness on March 27, 2008 at St. Boniface Hospital in his 86th year. Alden is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret Helen West (Pearson). Also, to cherish his memory are his sister-in-law Ruth Dobbin (Everett) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Alden was born and went to school in Lockport, Manitoba. He was awarded the Governor General's Medal and then went to the University of Manitoba. However, in 1943 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and trained to be a navigator. After the war, in 1946, he continued his University Education and met the love of his life, Margaret. In 1949, he graduated with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and married Margaret. Alden worked with the Western Canada Insurance Underwriters and retired as a Senior Survey Engineer in 1985. Alden loved nature, feeding birds, walking, golfing, tennis, bowling and time at the family cottage. He was a long time devoted member of his church. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of 5E St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care during Alden's final days. A memorial service to honor Alden's life will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave. Flowers are graciously declined.
