Date of Passing: Mar 27, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISOBEL WALASCHUK On the evening of March 27, 2008, the angels came and took our beloved mother to heaven. She joins her husband Walter, son John and granddaughter Brenda Morrow. She was also predeceased by her parents, Alice and George T. Freeman and siblings, Cybil Garley and Jack and Harry Freeman. Mom leaves to celebrate her life her daughters, Isabel (Royce) Jonson, Verna Sakai, Pat (Alan) Baty, Carol (Jon) Kreviazuk and son Walter (Diane); she also leaves numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister Sara Clarke. Mom was born on March 16, 1916 in Winnipeg and spent her early years in Elmwood and East Lower Fort Garry. Mom and Dad moved to Selkirk in 1943 and she resided there until her passing. Mom was first and foremost a wife, mother, home maker and grandmother. She was a great cook, loved to crochet, play bingo and socialize. She maintained her own apartment until she recently became ill and was hospitalized. She gave us her unconditional love and leaves a void in our lives. Mom was a warm and caring person whose family meant everything to her. She was patient and understanding and always made time for everyone. Her kind, gentle and generous loving nature was extended to everyone she befriended and was cherished by her family. She lived her life fully, treasuring every moment with friends and especially her family. Mom was an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a positive attitude and was not judgmental. She accepted everyone for who they were. Her wisdom, humor and endless love will be missed by all. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and spoke endlessly to others about their lives. Special thanks to Dr. Zoppa and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to a charity of your choice. To those I've left behind You held my hand I felt your strength I was not alone. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Dear Walaschuk Family, I am sorry that I only found out today about the passing of Isobel. May she rest in peace. And may you who have lost her find comfort in the arms of close family members and friends. Isobel was the sister of my Granny, Sybil Slater Garley and though I never met Isobel, if she was anything like my Granny then she was the finest of the finest. As a tribute to you Isobel Freeman Walaschuk, thank you with all of my heart for acknowledging our Metis Ancestry to your family. There is no greater gift. Love, Kathleen - Posted by: Kathleen Garley (Family) on: Apr 05, 2008
