MARCIA IVY MARIE SLEEMAN (JOSEPH) July 25, 1947 - March 26, 2008 On Wednesday, March 26, after a brief battle with cancer, mom passed away peacefully at Health Science Centre with her family by her side at the age of sixty. Remaining to forever cherish her memory is her loving husband of 37 years, Sonny, son Garnet, daughter Lonnie (Nathan), grandchildren Calista and Brandon, and sisters; Diane (Don), Debbie (Anthony), Colleen (Don), Verna, and brother Clifford (Dianne), numerous close friends, nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents Mary and Clifford Joseph, brothers Brian, Bradley, Ray, Tommy, mother and father-in-law, Ollie and Garnet Sleeman, and brother-in-law Tony. Mom and Dad married in 1970 and resided in Winnipeg until 1978 then moving out to Pine Falls to run their restaurant. She made numerous friends and cherished those friendships dearly. Over 20 years later they moved back to Winnipeg. Mom loved to bake, cross stitch, play cards and make crafts. She was a caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always thinking of others before herself. Her granddaughter was the most important person in her life, many sleepovers and daily phone calls to nan! Spending time with Calista was mom's favourite pastime. Mom was so happy when she had her grandson, Brandon. Her face would be beaming with pride when he began to call her Nan. She was so happy with her grandchildren, spoiling them every chance she had. We would life to thank numerous friends and family for their ongoing support prior to and during this difficult time. Many prayers, phone calls, visits and flowers were all greatly appreciated. We are very grateful to Auntie Debbie for being with mom everyday in the hospital, she really enjoyed that time together. Special thanks to mom's good friend Patsy who helped her throughout her battle with cancer, we are forever grateful to have her in our life. Thanks to CancerCare and the wonderful staff at the Health Science Centre (B3 and D4). Their kindness was overwhelming and will never be forgotten. Heart felt thanks to Dr. M. Semus for his care, kindness and compassion for mom and our family. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Knysh Funeral Chapel (corner of Main and Manitoba) at 4:00 p.m. We will love and miss you forever.
