EVELYN SHAND Peacefully, Evelyn passed away at the age of 82. Evelyn is survived by; children George (Carol), Kathy (John), Sherri (Grant) and Doug; and her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S. She was predeceased by her husband George Sr. and grandson Christopher. Special thanks go out to her niece and best friend Sandra Sanders, for all her help and consideration over the years. Evelyn was born to Moses and Josephine Lafournaise in Boggy Creek (San Clara). She moved to Winnipeg where she met and married George Shand. During her life Evelyn worked for AEC, CN and later for the Manitoba Government as a home care worker. She loved to cook and bake for others and often read tea leaves for her friends. She made many friends in life as a seamstress and made clothes and did alterations. She designed and created wedding dresses and occasionally took on projects like aircraft wing covers and costumes. Evelyn's special interests were; reading; caring for her roses and morning glories; and walking her little dog Ginger. Evelyn will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of the Charleswood Care Centre for making her last days comfortable. Special thanks go to Bea and all the staff of Unit 1. In accordance with her wishes, Evelyn will be cremated and she will rest at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., please gather at Glen Eden Funeral Home prior to the service. Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street R2L 1X3. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
