DOREEN ANNE WHITELAM (nee TAYLOR) October 3, 1939 - March 29, 2008 In loving memory and with heavy hearts, we are sad to announce the sudden passing of a dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Peacefully in the early hours at home, Doreen left us for her journey until we meet again. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Joe Whitelam of 47 years; three sons Keith of Libau, MB, Kenneth (Deborah) of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Brian (Lori) of Selkirk, MB. Nana cherished her three granddaughters Carrie, Kalie and Kaitlin. Doreen was predeceased by her parents John Edward Taylor and Doris Mae Taylor (nee Bray). She will be deeply missed by her brother Albert (Jill) Taylor of Wetaskewin, Alberta, and family; her sisters-in-law Elaine (Ken) Beattie and family, Jean (Roy) Gatland and family; brother-in-law Tom (Maeola) Whitelam and family, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Doreen was a secretary for 25 years with the Lord Selkirk School Division until her retirement in 1997. She was an active member of the Selkirk United Church, and acted as Treasurer of the Selkirk Bridge Club until her passing. She was involved with the Selkirk Badminton Club, Selkirk Curling Club, Selkirk Golf Club as well as the Mars Sandhills Golf Club. Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with cremation to follow. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Selkirk United Church with Rev. Deborah Vitt officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Selkirk United Church. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
