Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRENE JOSEPH EDMOND JOHNSON Peacefully, on April 1, 2008, René Johnson passed away at Taché Centre at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Rita Johnson (née Lapointe), René will be lovingly remembered by his son Renald (Diane); daughters, Lorraine Farrell (Paul), Gisèle Himbeault (Don), grandchildren, Danielle (Jared), Joelle (Daniel), Corey (Taiya), Janelle (Ryan), Eric, Alain and great-grandchildren, Conner, MacKenzie, Trinity, Elya, and Keestyn. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Eveline, Hermance and Yvette and his brother Gerry. He was also predeceased by his parents Stéphane and Clémentine and his brothers, Lionel, Roméo and Gabriel (Gaby). René worked as a printer at the Winnipeg Free Press until his retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved music, dancing, playing cards, watching sports. He had the gift of telling stories and calling square dances. Funeral celebration will be held on Friday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. (viewing 10:00 a.m.) at église du Précieux-Sang, 200 Kenny Street, with Father David Brabant, P.S.S. officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations in René's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 (ph. 787-4143), or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude to the caregivers of Taché Centre, as well as the Day Care staff for their gentle kindness and care to René over the last number of years.
