Alvin married Ida in 1963, soon after they purchased their own farm where they raised their three children. In 1980 Alvin stopped farming due to poor health. His health improved and he started a small greenhouse for a hobby that grew into Al's Garden Centre which was his passion until 2001 when poor health forced him to retire. During the garden centre years Alvin also drove a school bus for Prairie Spirit School Division. The following years were spent enjoying their home and yard in Crystal City. Service was held on Wednesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crystal City United Church. If you wish, donations may be made to the charities that impacted Alvin's life, The Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society or the Rock Lake Palliative Care Fund.
