ANDRE JEROME CATELLIER André, son of Emile Catellier and Mary Coulombe, was born on March 28, 1928 and passed away on April 4, 2008 after several years of declining health. André touched the lives of many people, too numerous to name individually, but his biography will certainly indicate the number of lives which intersected with his. André was born in Dufrost, MB. He went to school in La Rochelle and then attended St. Boniface College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Humanities. He then taught school in several communities in Northern Manitoba and later in the St. Vital School Division. Taking a sabbatical, he went to Laval University and received a Master of Arts Degree in French Literature. After many years in the education field he changed careers and went to work at St. Boniface Hospital as a nurse's aide. When he retired he enjoyed gardening and meeting people of various backgrounds. He met many people while doing a genealogical search of his family's roots. He traced the family's Canadian roots back to 1732, in St. Vallier, Quebec, and discovered a large extended family scattered throughout North America. André was very much a homebody, not inclined to travel, but he made a few trips in Canada and to France and the United States. André loved to meet people and enjoyed visits from his many nieces and nephews and their children. André leaves to mourn his passing, three sisters, Annette Goulet, Patricia Martel, and Léona Chalmers; five sisters-in-law, Alice, Lucienne, Céline, Isabelle and Jeanine Catellier; brother-in-law Jim Chalmers (Léona) and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral service will be celebrated at the St. Malo Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, with Fr. Marcel Chaput presiding. The Prayer Vigil will occur at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately after in the St. Malo cemetery. André's sisters thank all who cared for him over the last few years. We are especially grateful for the love shown by his nieces Paulette Duval and Dianne Morin, and his nephews Patrick and Guy Catellier and their families. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
