RUSSELL (DEAN) REID With his family by his side Dean Reid, 56 years old, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2008 at Health Sciences Centre. Dean will be lovingly remembered by many of his family and friends. Dean is survived by his wife Gwen (Rose) and was a devoted father to Alyssa, Patricia and Wesley, parents Russell and Elin (Nello) (Einarsson), brothers Wesley (Darlene) nephews and niece Carl, Michael, Elizabeth and Colin (Mona) and nieces Andrea and Erica, brother-in-law Larry Rose (Judi) nephews and niece Elliott, Madeleine, Taylor and his special friend Marilyn. Dean had many aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and business associates. Dean was a special man and was a lot of things to a lot of people. Eulogy will be delivered by his close friend and business associate Louis Picard. Born in Arborg, Manitoba on June 14, 1951, Dean spent his childhood years on Cambridge Street in River Heights. Dean attended Montrose School and later Vincent Massey and Grant Park Collegiate. He was very proud of his first job at the Winnipeg Arena and often told stories of his time there. Dean had many careers over the years and was active in the Winnipeg construction community. He worked for the National Research Council (IRAP) as an Industrial Technology Advisor. Dean was extremely intelligent and even skipped a grade in school. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with friends and colleagues. Dean enjoyed traveling and making new friends. He made many friends when he volunteered with CESO and spent four weeks in Armenia working on business development with a construction company. Se or Dean spent two weeks in Panama and would often be seen around Winnipeg wearing his Panama hat. Dean always had a smile and was happy. He could often be heard laughing two rooms away. He celebrated life each day and was always surrounded by family and friends. Dean liked to entertain and was a host at many social occasions throughout the years. Dean enjoyed cooking and was usually the centre of attention. Dean touched many people and coached his children's baseball and speedskating teams. He was the Chef de Mission at the 1995 Canada Games for the Manitoba Speedskating Team and he cherished those memories. Over the years Dean was involved in fastball, golf, fishing, curling, hockey, basketball and you always knew where he was during the Masters. Dean was loyal to his parents and was the centre of their lives. Donations can be sent to Alzheimer Society, Parkinson's or the International Centre for Infectious Diseases.   • I am so sorry to here of your loss. I met Dean a few times when Meghan and Alyssa were friends at Balmoral Hall.
