DOROTHY RENNIE January 24, 1920 - May 17, 2008 After 88 years of a fulfilling life, Dorothy Rennie passed away in Winnipeg on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Dorothy was born in Manitou, Manitoba as Dorothy Ruth Sharpe and never lost her love for the farm. She briefly moved to Herbert, Saskatchewan as a child, but returned to Manitou. Dorothy completed her teaching certificate as a young woman and initially taught Phys Ed and music. After her marriage to Ted (Edgar) Rennie in 1947, Dorothy moved to Winnipeg permanently. Dorothy taught school at Crane Elementary and will be fondly remembered by her many past students. She returned to the University of Winnipeg to complete her Education degree in the evenings as a part time student, while continuing to teach. Even with her busy schedule, she organized local ringette and was always to be seen at her two son's various sporting events. After retirement, Dorothy turned to other volunteer activities, such as tutoring elementary students and serving many years on the Fort Garry School Board. Dorothy and Ted also began building a cottage at Shoal Lake, Ontario. They spent summers enjoying their cottage and became close friends with many of the people on the lake. Dorothy will be remembered by those whose lives she touched and will be greatly missed by her family; sons William and Robert and their wives Jackie and Lisa; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Nicole and Jamieson; sister Marge (Gus) Sorensen; sister-in-law Sylvia and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Thursday, May 29, 2008. Please contact Thomson Funeral Home for details.
