After a long period of declining health, Emil passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Emil was born in Platkownitza, Poland and with his parents immigrated to Canada in 1952. Adelheid was called home by her Lord and Saviour, unexpectedly on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the MICU in the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 80 years. Adelheid was born in Lithuania and immigrated to Canada to wed Emil in late 1952. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on January 29, 2008. Emil and Adelheid led a wonderful life together in their home in North Winnipeg. Emil was employed at the Labatts Brewery for over 30 years, while Adelheid was employed for 30 years as a seamstress at a local garment factory. Emil and Adelheid were loving, generous and gracious people. This was their legacy to all those who knew them. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff on 5 West at the Deer Lodge Centre for the wonderful care they provided for Emil over the past 6 years, and extend a very sincere thank you to the staff at MICU in the Health Sciences Centre for their kind loving care of Adelheid. Together, they leave many friends and family to mourn their passing, and will be sorely missed. The funeral service for Emil and Adelheid will take place at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St., on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
