LOUIS MIJKER
Born: Jun 26, 1951
Date of Passing: May 28, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS MIJKER Louis Mijker, devoted husband, father and grandfather, peacefully entered the Eternal Kingdom of God in the early morning of May 28, 2008, at the Grace General Hospital. Louis leaves to cherish in his memory his wife of 56 years, Frances; daughters Maxine Lawrence, Donna O'Toole (Allan), Lynda Hunt (Jim), Brenda Smith (Robert), and son Ryan Mijker (Kathleen); grandchildren Brett Lawrence, Marcella and Landon O'Toole, Joel Mijker-Smith, Desirae and Trinda Smith; as well as many siblings, nieces and nephews. Born in the Municipality of Rosedale, Manitoba, he married Frances on June 26, 1951. Louis loved the land and with great passion and respect for the earth he dedicated his life to farming. His first farm was the family homestead outside Neepawa, and in 1960 he continued to farm north of Basswood, MB. Farming taught Lou trade diversity and in the 1970s he began working in the construction industry in addition to farming. In 1975, Lou moved his family to Brandon where he continued to work in the construction industry. He loved to keep busy and even in his retirement he traveled to Nunavut to work, which he enjoyed. Lou and his wife tenderly nurtured a beautiful home and a large garden in Brandon. He loved visiting with family and friends. Recently, Lou and his wife moved to Winnipeg to be closer to their family. Cremation has taken place. Prayers for Louis will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 1:00 pm, with reception to follow. The care and compassion given to Louis and his family by the Grace Hospital staff will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Hospital Foundation. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be He put His arms around you And said, Come unto Me. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715

Dear Francis & Family We were so sad to hear of Louis passing. Louis was so good to our boys PJ & Jarod when they were younger working on the construction sites. This was the time when they were so impressionable. Paul always told people that he wished he had 12 of Louis's kind to work along side him! We are going to donate to the Cancer Society in Louis's name as this charity has also affected our Family greatly. All the Mijkers are in our thoughts & prayers at this sad time. Very Special Hugs Paul & Gayl Crane & All Our Family - Posted by: Paul & Gayl Crane (Co-Worker) on: Jun 04, 2008
