Elizabeth was born on February 6, 1978 in Winnipeg. She graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate in 1996. Elizabeth then graduated from Red River College as a Certified Engineering Technologist in the Environmental discipline. Elizabeth's first job was with Amsco Cast Products in Selkirk as a Health and Safety Officer. After five years she expanded her horizons and accepted a position as the Safety and Training Coordinator for Facility Management Operations at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. She enjoyed her work there immensely. Her family would like to thank the management and staff of the HSC for their help and support. Special thanks go to Cindy Harrison, Bill McGowan and Carol Quenelle for their assistance above and beyond. Elizabeth was predeceased by her grandparents, Dora and Michael Walus and Germaine and Martin Ptashnik, her aunt and uncle, John and Jean Chomyn and her aunt, Maryanne Ptashnik. She is survived by her grieving parents, Roger and Alice Ptashnik, her aunts, uncles and cousins Cathy and Reid Leonard (Ryan), Michael and Bernice Chomyn (Gary, Robert and Teresa), Edna and William Chomyn (Ken), Luba and Walter Zueff (Michael and Lisa), Robert and Sheila Ptashnik, John and Clasina Ptashnik (Keith and Jennifer) and James and Renee Ptashnik (Brian and Laura) and many second cousins. The family would like to thank the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the Emergency Room and ICU staff at Grace General Hospital, the MICU staff and the Transplant Manitoba Coordinators. Elizabeth was the best daughter that ever was. She was a loving, caring and generous person. Our pride in her knows no bounds. We will miss her forever. Her funeral will be held at St Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt Street, on Tuesday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be directed to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. A scholarship in Elizabeth's name is being planned for Red River College.
