EDGARDO SILDA SIMON Unexpectedly on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the age of 62 Edgardo (Ed) Simon passed away peacefully at home. Ed was born in Bacolod City, Philippines on October 13, 1945. He was the eldest son of Filemon and Angela Simon. He graduated from Negros Occidental School of Arts and Trades with his Auto Motive Degree. With his desire to seek greener pastures, Ed immigrated to Canada in the spring of 1967. He started off in Vancouver, but moved on to Winnipeg, where he met his wife Cora (Abenoja). Here the raised their two children and watched their grandchildren grow over the next 40 years together. Ed lived for his family and friends, always helping out by building, repairing, driving and organizing just about anything. He worked for Versatile/Ford New Holland for 18 years before taking an early retirement to take care of and enjoy his family. He helped organize the Kitahanon Association in Winnipeg and has been an active member for many years. His joy was the birth of his first grandchild Colin. Ed loved to watch all his grandsons play hockey and attended every game. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved his wife dearly.
