ALLAN WILLIAM GOULD It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Allan William Gould on Friday, August 1, 2008, in Winnipeg, at the Victoria General Hospital with his wife, Linda, by his side. Born December 24, 1947, Allan leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Linda, brother, Terry (Frances) of White Rock, BC. and their daughters Kim (Erik), Brenna and families; cousins, Shirley Mesbur (Alex) of Toronto, Ontario and Ruth Gould (Stephen Smith) of Melbourne, Australia; mother-in-law, Marguerite, sisters-in-law, Sharon (Frank), Gaylene and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Ethel and his father-in-law, Howard. Allan worked in his early years as an accountant in the construction industry, but wanderlust took him to working at a plastics factory on a kibbutz in Israel for nearly 10 years. Returning to Winnipeg he found love and contentment. He met Linda and they were married in 1997. He spent much of his latter years as a dealer at the Crystal Casino and McPhillips Street Station, where working with people on a daily basis was consistent with his friendliness with everyone with whom he came in contact. All through his younger life he was a fabulous athlete at any sport he played at. While an avid fisherman in his latter years, Allan had a love for curling and as a young man became very proficient and competitive at the provincial level. Allan fought his many health issues with great strength and bravery. On behalf of the family, we would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Krcek of the Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Jones and nurse Kim, of CancerCare Manitoba, Doctors Maxwell, Thorlakson, Greene, Penner and Griffin at the Victoria General Hospital and family physician, Dr. Blank, for the care and compassion extended to Allan. Also, we would like to thank the nurses and support staff of the 5th floor south at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and kindness. According to Allan's wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Manitoba for the advancement of medicine through anatomical study. A private ash interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare, Manitoba Foundation (Brain Tumour Research), 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E OV9.
