Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIDA MAY BESANT Peacefully, with her beloved family by her side, on August 26, 2008, Ida May Besant entered eternity. She is survived by two daughters; Lorna of New Mexico, Eleanor of Edmonton, Alberta, one son Bill (Donna) of Winnipeg, grandchildren Bill, Colin, Matthew, Andrew and Laura, as well as many nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbors. Ida was born on March 8, 1914 in Wadena, Saskatchewan; she grew up in Cypress River Manitoba. In 1937 she graduated as a nurse from The Victoria General Hospital. Ida married Lorne Besant in 1939, residing first in Norwood and then moved to Fort Garry in 1945. There Ida began a 53 year association with Fort Garry United Church where she served faithfully making many friends. She volunteered at Victoria General Hospital renewing her lifelong dedication of caring for people. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Calvary Place for their acts of kindness, friendliness and great care, also many thanks to friends and relatives who visited faithfully over the years. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at Calvary Place, 1325 Erin Street on September 4, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 1101-191 Lombard Avenue. Ida was a dedicated volunteer at the 'Vic. A born nurse, a dignified sweet lady loved by all.I loved her sense of humour , her connect to all patients and their families.It was a priviledge to have known her.
