ANDREW (ANDY) KURULIAK November 20, 1931 September 22, 2008 After a life full of many adventures, Andy left us suddenly on Monday, September 22, 2008, at the age of 76 years. Remaining to forever cherish Andy's memory are his daughters, Cindy (Grant) Unger, Andrea (Bill) De Ruddere, grandchildren Riley and Emily Unger, Pamela and Allison De Ruddere. He was predeceased by his wife Eva in 1990. Andy grew up on a farm in Stenen, Saskatchewan. As a young man he left the farm to work in the mines of Northern Ontario and Northern Canada. He met his wife Eva Urbanovitch and they settled in Winnipeg to raise their family. Their home was always open to friends and family. Andy wore many hats in his colorful life. He was a miner, a cab driver, a bus washer for Winnipeg Transit. He worked for over 25 years for the City of Winnipeg Water Waste and Pollution Control Center. Andy wasn't afraid to tackle any job. He was always building or inventing something. If you needed help, he was there. Andy learned to ski at 56 and skied well into retirement. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing expeditions and we enjoyed the stories from them. Andy enjoyed an active retirement as a Free Press carrier, running a lawn care business, and finally he was Mr. K's Karaoke. He loved to sing. Papa adored his grandchildren and was very proud of each of them. On Friday, September 26, at 10:30 a.m. Andy's funeral service will be held in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. We would like to thank the many health care professionals that cared for Dad this past year, Especially Marites and the caring staff at Victoria General Hospital. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Police, Fire, Paramedics and Medical Examiner for their compassion and time spent with us.
