Born Edith Doreen Calvert in 1931, she married Louis Edward J. Prescott in 1952. She is survived by Edward and her three children; Gary of Victoria, BC, Nancee of Toronto, ON and Christopher (Donna) and grandson, Devyn of Winnipeg, MB, brother Dennis Calvert (Georgina), nephew Chris and niece Coryn, cousin Judy Oliver and sons Dale and Jason, stepbrothers, Martin Ruf (Margy) and Alf Ruf. She was a devout Christian who lived by her faith. Edith was involved with The Lutheran Women's Missionary League and was recognized for her service of 50 years in 2007. She attended yearly conventions in many cities in North America. Edith acted in many capacities, at the society, zone and district levels being District President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary to name a few. Edith worked as a secretary of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for 21 years before retiring at the age of 75 years. Although suffering a stroke while young (age 40), and living with debilitating arthritis, she was a wonderful mother and great cook (many of her children's friends will fondly remember her chocolate chip cookies). Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2008 at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Avenue West. Dear Father, when I pass away, perhaps there won't be time to pray, for death may come so suddenly, I'll not have time to call on Thee, so precious Lord while yet I live, be Thou my Saviour, cleanse, forgive, help me Lord, to watch And pray, to serve Thee gladly, day by day, to be al all times, by Thy Grace, prepared to meet Thee face to face.
