JOAN MAKIN (nee BARLOW) Peacefully, after a lengthy battle against heart disease Joan's strong and indomitable spirit finally chose to rest and return home to the loving arms of our Lord on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Joan is survived and mourned by her only and deeply loved daughter, Penelope Makin who thanks God for giving her such a wonderful Mother. Also mourning Joan's passing are her adored niece Edwina Malings of County Wexford, Ireland as well as husband Jon Mailings and their daughters Hanna Ruth and Rebecca Kate. Joan is reunited at last with her dearest brother Walter (Manny) and sister Lilly (Billy) and her parents Edward and Maud Barlow, who all pre-deceased her at far too early ages A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of this loving woman will be held on Tuesday, November 4, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Special thanks to the wonderful nursing staff on floor 5 at Victoria General Hospital for their dedicated and compassionate care at all times.
