Marlies was born in Germany on January 22, 1930, the third child of Wilhelm and Sophia Kristokat. She met and married Sieg in Germany and together with their daughter Christine, they emigrated to the United States in 1952. They settled in Indiana and began raising a family. In 1960 they emigrated once again and settled in Winnipeg. They bought the family home on Perth Avenue where they made many friends and raised their eight children. She cherished travels with her husband and trips back to Germany and Austria to visit childhood friends. Marlies spent her last year at the Holy Family Nursing Home where she received loving care and kindness. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and health care aides of St. Francis Ward for taking such good care of our Mom.
