LITTLE On November 13, 2008 at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg Jack passed away at 90 years of age in the company of his beloved wife, Grace, to whom he was married for 66 years. Jack is also survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Harrison, of Pitt Meadows BC; his two brothers-in-law, Omer Olson of Uxbridge, ON; and Sherman Olson (Jo) of Maple Ridge, BC. As well, he is survived by his nieces and nephews: Lea, Pam, Jim, Larry, Nancy, Julie and their respective children. He was predeceased by his father, John; his mother, Lillian; and his sister, Bette. After marriage to Grace in l942, whom he met at St. Stephen's Broadway United Church, Jack served for four years with the RCAF in Squadron 168. He returned to Winnipeg following his war service and was employed with Canada Post for 33 years where he retired as Quality Evaluator for Manitoba District in 1978. Jack was a long time member of St. Stephen's Broadway United Church (now Broadway Disciples United Church) where he and Grace first met while members of the young people's group. Jack served as Church Elder for many years spending time on the Pastoral Care Committee. He was also active as a volunteer at Beacon Hill Lodge and with the Meals on Wheels Program. Following the sale of their home in Fort Garry, Jack and Grace moved to live at Lindenholm Place in 1989 enjoying the company of their many friends amongst the fellow residents. As Jack's health declined a decision was made to move into Sterling House where new friends were made and much appreciated. Jack continued to reside here until the day prior to his death. A sincere and grateful thanks is extended to all those expressing their care and concern at this time. Your support is greatly appreciated. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the conclusion of the regular 10:30 a.m. service at Broadway Disciples United Church. Friends and family are invited to join with Jack's Church Family in the celebration of his life and work amongst us. The Rev. Dr. Ray Cuthbert officiating. The Church is located at 396 Broadway and Kennedy Street. Interment will follow in a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers those who wish to do so may make a donation to Broadway Disciples United Church Memorial Fund or the charity of their choice.
