BRUNO ROBERT FOERSTER 1941 - 2008 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father and opa, Bob Foerster on November 18, 2008, one week before his 67th birthday. Remaining to celebrate his memory are his daughter Kathleen (Crang), son Bryan (Michelle), grandchildren Robyn, Samantha and Allyson (Crang), and Dalton (Foerster). Bob also leaves behind his former wife and friend Bev, sister Edith (Karl Gaminek), brothers Willi, Ortwin and Harry (Elaine), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wonderful family of friends and neighbours. Dad grew up in Leisten, Germany, and immigrated to Winnipeg with his family in 1954. He began his teaching career with a B.A./B. Ed. for Winnipeg School Division #1 at Lord Roberts School. He made a great move to Cecil Rhodes School shortly after, where he met his lifelong friend Bill Graham. He spent many years at his next school, River Heights Junior High, teaching math and creating a large and successful German program. Dad was an intelligent, dedicated and respected teacher who adored children, and said going to work was like going to Hawaii every day. He ended his teaching career at Sargent Park, retiring early at 55. Dad continued to teach throughout his retirement years, teaching those close to him to live with optimism, respect, kindness, compassion, generosity, patience, humour and love. A jack-of-all trades, Dad was an incredible carpenter, electrician, plumber, mechanic, gardener and cook, who delighted in sharing his talents and helping people whenever he could. Dad and Mom built a family business together, Hair Expression, and Dad loved to wash the ladies' hair on Saturdays. Prior to his hip failing, he loved to bowl and curl, and served as the president of the Granite Curling Club for many years. Dad found great happiness in opening his home and pool to everyone he knew, at any time - on a hot summer day it would be rare not to find him hosting some kind of party in his beautiful backyard, or sharing vegetables from his amazing organic garden. Despite some health issues related to diabetes over the past two years, Dad never slowed down, and never stopped smiling. He was a great man, a great father, and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at Thomson in the Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd. at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22 with Pastor Jim Scholz officiating. Interment will be held at a later date, along with a party to celebrate his life. In memory of Bob, if friends wish, a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Society would be wonderful. Ich bin Klein, mein Hertz ist rein, soll niemand drin wohnen als Jesus allein. Auf Wiedersehen Daddy and Opa
