Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MAY HOLMES With sadness the children of Dorothy Holmes (nee Harper) announce her passing on November 19, 2008. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Norman Ritchie Holmes in 1980, her parents Thompson Harper and Christina Smith and her sister Molly Hughes. She is survived by her daughters Heather (Don), Marilyn (Jim) of Port Alberni, BC, and her son Tom of Winnipeg. She also leaves her dearly loved grandchildren Jana and Jamie, Kelly and Melanie (Brook). Dorothy was a first generation Canadian born in Winnipeg on March 22, 1919, the younger of two daughters of Thompson and Christina Harper. Dorothy met her husband Norm while attending Daniel McIntyre Collegiate High School. They both sang in the school play Mikado'. In September 1941 Dorothy and Norm were married; they shared a life together for nearly forty years. Dorothy worked for many years for the Manitoba Government in the Information Services Department. Dorothy loved playing bridge, cribbage and canasta, and was always ready for a game. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Misericordia Health Care Centre and Kildonan Personal Care Home for their expert care of Dorothy during her time there. Cremation has taken place and a memorial reception will be held on Saturday, November 22, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 9Z9 or to a charity of your choice.
