DOUGLAS WAYNE PATTERSON December 26, 1941 - December 5, 2008 It is with great sadness; Shelley and Rob announce the passing of their Dad Douglas Wayne Patterson. While holding his children's hands and surrounded by family he passed away after a courageous battle against cancer. He is survived by his children Shelley (Mark) and Rob (Breanna), sisters Ida (Bill), Sylvia (Dave), Gloria, Audrey, Sandy (Marcel); many nieces, nephews, and special friend and former wife Carole. He was predeceased by his Mom, Dad and brother Larry. Dad was a very kind, gentle and non-judgmental man who thought of others before himself. He was always there to offer a helping hand to those in need even if it meant doing without. We will miss your humor, great big smile, and big blue eyes. Dad's fondest memories were of spending time with family and friends at the lake. Dad's favorite daily pastime was to go grab a Timmy's and sit down to a good game of dominos with his best friend Jim. He always loved scratching lotto tickets and playing his favorite numbers weekly with plans already made for the big win. He enjoyed spending time with his Grand puppy Bennie and Grand kitty Maggie. Dad spent most of his working career in the trucking industry. Dad was born and raised in Morden, Manitoba where he spent his youth working hard on the family farm. Words cannot express our thanks to all those who helped in Dad's battle and helping make his final days comfortable. You are all very special to us. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Dad's memory may be made to the Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. An online book of condolences may be signed at cropo.com. 586-8044

My condolences to doug's immediate family. I did not know until today and i am truly sorry for your loss. Doug was a good friend of mine during Clegg school days. We used to play king of the castle on the huge snowbanks beside the one room school house. Doug usually won cause he was the biggest guy at the school during the 50's. Also, i remember having sleep-overs at the patterson family home. Man, did i ever enjoy those times and i will never forget doug. - Posted by: lawrence janzen (good friend at clegg school) on: Nov 21, 2013
