CROCE MANGANO With great sadness for our loss, yet with faith, we say (arrivederci ad un altro giorno) to our beloved husband, father, and nonno, Croce Mangano. Croce passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday morning, December 6, 2008, in Winnipeg, MB, at 90 years of age. Born in Montemaggori, Sicily on June 7, 1918, Croce married his wife of 63 years, Vincenza, in 1945 before bringing his family to Canada in 1952. His passion for life was exceeded only by his determination to provide for his loved ones. After settling in St. Boniface, he proceeded to carve out a reputation as an honest, hard working and talented builder, mason, and tile-setter. Much of his work still stands today in buildings and homes throughout Manitoba. His determined work ethic carried over into his passion as a gardener, as every summer he spent in Canada, including this last summer, saw his back yard completely filled with an exotic variety of vegetables that sustained his entire family year round. Left to mourn his passing and remembering his strength are his wife Vincenza (nee Brambilla), his children Matteo (Christine), Josephine (Richard), Teresa (Michael), Anna (Todd), and Vincenzo Brambilla; grandchildren Tara (Mark), Tyler, Matthew, Paul, Joanna, Ben and Adriana, as well as numerous nephews and nieces in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, and Italy. A funeral service will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., in Winnipeg, Wednesday, December 10. Viewing will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by Mass. Entombment will take place in Holy Angel Mausolem at Green Acres Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital and Research Foundation.
