Lavonne was one of seven children born to Sigurd and Isabelle Broughton, of Donalda, Alberta, on March 26, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband Des on October 7, 2008; her parents; two brothers and three sisters. She will be missed by her sister Phyllis (Bob) Munson, of Red Deer, AB; sister-in-law Shirley Broughton, of Camrose, AB; as well as, several nieces and nephews, in AB and BC; her brother-in-law Ken (Hilda) Pitts; sister-in-law Una Ferguson and godchild Patty Pitts, all of Victoria, BC; and her good friends in Winnipeg. Lavonne worked for the Bank of Commerce in Vermilion and Yellowknife, where she met her husband Des. They lived in different places with his employment with Hudson's Bay, but Winnipeg has been their home. Lavonne was an ardent curler (Winter Club in Winnipeg), as well she loved her golf at St. Charles Golf Country Club in Winnipeg, and during their winter visits to Florida. She was National Teams Director with the Canadian Ladies Golf Association for a number of years, which involved traveling with the teams to various places. She also spent many happy years volunteering at the Nearly New Shop for the Children's Hospital. We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Joshua of Grace Hospital and her nurses for her care, also Homecare staff, as well as, her good neighbours. At Lavonne's request there will be no service. Donations in her memory may be made to The Nearly New Shop for the Children's Hospital, 961 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3G 0R2, or Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7.
