SHIRLEY EDWINA DAMM (nee NELSON) December 28, 1942 - December 27, 2008. On December 27, 2008 Shirley passed away peacefully with family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Finn, her son Robin and her daughter Kirsten (Graeson) Wright. Shirley will also be missed by Elsie, Monique, as well as many other extended family and friends. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Nettie Nelson and her two brothers Roy and Melvin. In 1963 Shirley graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital as a Registered Nurse and began a career that spanned four decades. She retired from the St. Boniface General Hospital in 2003. Shirley touched the lives of everyone she met with a loving, caring and compassionate hand. She loved to laugh. She loved the theatre, ballet and opera. She loved figure skating, curling, and the Blue Bombers as well as her many little knick-knacks. Mom embraced the outdoors with her love of camping and gardening, but above all else mom embraced life and loved and adored her family and friends. Mom you were so truly loved you will always be remembered for your smile and never ending hugs and kisses. We will stay strong because your never ending love will forever guide us and you will live on in our hearts and minds through our memories forever. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for the compassionate care provided to mom. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on January 8, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Wpg., MB, with a reception to follow.
