Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELISABETH ELFRIEDE ROLKE November 30, 1920 December 29, 2008 Peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's, Elisabeth passed away on December 29, 2008 with her family at her side at Red River Place P.C.H., Selkirk, MB. Many thanks to the care given by all the staff at Red River Place, your kindness won't be forgotten. She is united once again with her husband Wilhelm who had passed away 20 years ago on December 30, 1988. She will be cherished in memory by her son Wolfgang (Judith) Rolke, daughter Irmgard (Michael) Oberding; four grandchildren, Devin, Crystal, Tony (Beth) Dilk and Heidi (Mark) Bender and four great-grandchildren, Samantha, Brittney, Matthew, and Luke; her brother Herbert Keller, and numerous nieces and nephews and relatives in Germany. Elisabeth was born in Koenigshuette, Germany and in 1953, with her children at her side, she immigrated to Canada joining her husband who had arrived four months earlier to establish a new home. As all her family was back in Germany, she found the initial years difficult, however, over time her brother Herbert and his wife Waltraut immigrated to Canada along with other friends. Along with taking care of the household she held several jobs to assist the finances. Once established she took on the full time role as official homemaker where she always cooked special meals to suit the entire family. Later in life she decided to go back to work and enjoyed her work at Eaton's in the pastry department until she decided to retire. She enjoyed going fishing with her husband, early years of camping at Falcon Lake, many years of renting a cabin at Red Rock Lake and eventually the family cottage at Red Rock Lake. She enjoyed traveling and had many visits overseas and to California with her Wilhelm and after his passing still managed to continue traveling by herself up to her 80th birthday. She loved to play with her grandchildren and shower them with gifts. Her last wish Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all . A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Stroke Association of Manitoba.
