Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE ARCHIBALD PHILLIPS On December 1, 2008, with dignity and courage, after a brief battle with cancer, Wayne Archibald Phillips passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada where he lived. Wayne was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 27, 1933. Wayne joined the Canadian Navy with his mother's consent at 17 years of age. He served in Korea, on the Athabaskan. He spent many years abroad with the Canadian and US forces on special assignments. He worked in the construction industry throughout Canada, US, Central and South America, Asia and the Middle East. Wayne was multilingual and we knew for sure he spoke five languages. He was proud to be Métis and was a good artist; musician, dancer and he loved telling jokes. Wayne is survived and will always be lovingly remembered by this wife of over 25 years Bertha, his younger sister Wallis Battle and her family in Yorkton, SK; his son Bob (Paulette) and granddaughters Dr. Lisa Phillips (Mac Cardinal) and Cristy Phillips in Edmonton, AB; his daughter Brenda LaRose (Jean) grandsons Stan Higgins and Brock Higgins in Winnipeg, MB; his son Hunter (Renee), grandson Turner and granddaughter Lily in Nashville, TN and numerous extended family members. A special thanks to his cousin Bella Maud in Vancouver who Wayne was very close to. In accordance with Wayne's wishes, no funeral services were held; his ashes like he did many times simply disappeared.
