SIMON REID January 3, 1914 - February 5, 2009 It is with a heavy heart I announce the passing of my wonderful Father at the age of 95. After quite a struggle, you left peacefully with your family by your side. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Sarah; daughters, Sharleen and Shannon; wife Leona; brothers, Nigel, Allan, Earl and Jack; sisters, Gladys, Isabel, Elsie and Ella. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Wendy (Leonard); grandchildren, Blaine and Kyla; sisters, Maggie and Mayme; brothers, Ray and many nieces and nephews and friends. Simon was born and raised on a farm in the Clear Lake area with 11 siblings. He was a Jack of all trades and served in the Second World War at the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He returned from war, and married Leona Bold and had three daughters, and worked as a labourer mostly in Winnipeg. He suffered many hardships, losing two daughters, later divorcing and forced into early retirement with severe back problems. Simon spent 15 years in Veterans Manor on Princess Street, where he had many wonderful friends and acquaintances. At the age of 93, health issues forced him into a nursing home. He was residing at Red River Place in Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue, West at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. We would like to especially thank the wonderful staff at Red River Place in Selkirk. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS IN CARE OF: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST AT(Bond) 224-1525
