Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL MASLIJ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Maslij, beloved husband of Anastasia on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Michael was born on August 1, 1911 in the village of Uizd, Western Ukraine. Due to the World War, Michael left home in 1944 and in 1949 he came to Canada. He sponsored his wife Anastasia to Canada and later, they sponsored their son, Stepan; daughter-in-law Yaroslava and their children Michael and Halia. Michael worked at CN as a section man until his retirement. He was also a long time member of St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Michael leaves to mourn his wife, Anastasia; son, Stepan (Yaroslava); grandchildren, Michael and Halia (Petro); great-grandchildren, Andriyko and Tarasyk; as well as family in Ukraine. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Stefan and Anastasia; brothers, Petro, Ivan, Fedir and sister, Olga all in Ukraine. The family would like to thank Michael's friends, Andrew Wenger and Andrew Hull who were visiting him at the hospital. Very special thanks to Dr. Patel, Dr. Salem and the nurses who took loving care of Michael when he was in the hospital. Panakhyda will be sung 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 16 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
