Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDALE LEROY DOUGLAS MCIVOR Dale Leroy Douglas McIvor was born in Portage la Prairie on March 27, 1970. To our unexpected and sorrowful surprise Dale passed away peacefully on February 21, 2009, just a month shy of his 39th birthday. Dale lived the life he loved and loved the life he lived. A true outdoorsman, he was never happier than when he was with his family and close friends doing the things he loved best. The freedom of space while riding his motorcycle across the open prairie, sledding with buddies or fishing and camping were what Dale cherished most in life. While growing up in Portage, Dale attended elementary and junior high school at Crescentview from 1977 till 1985. In 1985 Dale went on to high school at Arthur Meighen where he studied power mechanics until 1988. That same year Dale started working full-time at the family based business of Sun Snow. Like his father, Dale had the natural ability for fixing things. He was a true Mr. Fix It in every sense. Being brought up in and around the family business of Sun Snow opened up the door to his entrepreneurial spirit. After the family business was sold in 1990, Dale stayed on to work under new management for six years. In 1996 he embarked on a new business venture with the purchase of GT Snow Cycle. At only 26 years of age, Dale managed and operated the business for 10 years, something we were all very proud of him for. In 2006 Dale met and started working for Gary McIntyre at Dietech Automation Equipment, a steel cutting services business. Dale was an integral part of the business. He was a self taught troubleshooter and computer wiz whose stubbornness, patience and smarts exemplified his passion for learning new things. We all loved Dale dearly, he was a wonderful son, a loving brother, a patient and understanding father, a dedicated family man and a true friend to so many. That witty sense of humour and infectious crazy laugh will always be missed. You will live in our hearts forever. Miss you big guy! Left to cherish Dale's memory are his mother and father, Kelly and Joan McIvor; sister Angie and brother-in-law Sterling Bacon; son Dominick Beaton, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A memorial will be held at the Herman Prior Centre on Friday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m. Food and refreshments to follow.
