JACOB (DENNIS) GIESBRECHT With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Jacob Dennis was born on February 3, 1946 in Altona, MB. He attended Steinbach Bible College as a youth. His passion was living his life for his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He loved working on cars (Mr. Fix It), singing and playing his guitar, spending time with family and friends. He was a story teller and loved to crack jokes. He worked at Canada Packers for many years and later in life obtained his industrial mechanic license from Keewatin College in The Pas. He later retired from the City of Winnipeg on April 27, 2007. Over the years, he's been involved in church ministries, such as singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, counselling on the phones, and most recently, helped out at Kid Zone in Calvary Temple, where he attended Sunday services. He took delight in watching his grandchildren grow. He was an active participant in each of their lives. Dennis was predeceased by his parents Nettie Harder Giesbrecht, Reverend Martin Giesbrecht, and step-mother Tina Giesbrecht; brothers, Peter, Cornelius and Steven Schellenberg. Dennis leaves to mourn his wife Vivian; his children with Grace Kokoschke: Michelle Sherry (Doug, father of) Calvary, Hosanna, and Caleb; Denise and husband Kiley and their children Jessica and Samuel; father-in-law Cornie Plett; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, their children and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honour of Dennis to Heart Stroke Foundation or to Kid Zone at Calvary Temple. A funeral service, celebrating his life is planned for Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Temple, main sanctuary, 440 Hargrave Street. Interment to follow in Eigenhof Cemetery in Altona.
