FRANK KEGL (PAPA) November 11, 1939 - March 4, 2009 It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Maks and Ana; brother Milan of Zgornja Scavnica; Pauline mother of Max, Tara and Joe. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 29 years, Lorrayne; brother Slavek; daughters, Tara (Darrell), Melissa (Danny), Jackie (Jodie) and Tracey; sons, Max, Joe (Myra), Keno, Derek and Jimmy; grandchildren, Lindsay, Sidney, Milan, Alex, Dorian, Mya, Papa, especially enjoyed quality time with grandchildren, Corey, Hailey, Emma, Riley and Braydon. He moved to Canada from Slovenija in 1959 and settled in Winnipeg for most of life before moving to Brokenhead Ojibway Nation with his family in 1987. He was employed by Borland Construction for 33 years and retired September 2008. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, landscaping, scraping and woodworking. Frank spent endless hours with his furry little friends, his Bichon Frises, especially Daisy . A wake will be held at his residence at the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB with Pastor Tina Leveque officiating. Cremation will follow the service. In memory of Frank, Special prayers and a candle light ceremony will take place at his home country Slovenija, Sunday, March 8, 2009. Pallbearers are Joe Kegl, Jodie Chief, Darrell McKay, Dennis Reick, Ricky Fagnan and Robby Pommer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Remembering the Gifts left by a Giant - With a Heart of GOLD - dca Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

  • Memories go back to 1959 with a lot of good memories and hell raising as a group of Slovenians new to the country. Until we moved to British Columbia in 1965.
