ELSIE FIGUS Peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2009, Elsie Figus passed away at Concordia Place Nursing Home at the age of 85. Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Michael in 1994; sister Ann; and brothers, Mike and John. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her son Brian (Teresa); granddaughter Vanessa; and brother Len (Sonja) and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was born, raised and lived in Transcona. She loved to knit, crochet and sew. She made countless sweaters, quilts and blankets for everyone in the family. She liked to attend Bingo at St. Michael's Church and various community clubs around Transcona. She loved working around the house which included gardening and planting flowers every spring. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends, neighbours and family. She worked various jobs throughout her life but spent the latter of her career at Lawson Graphics where she retired in June of 1988. Special thanks go out to the staff and volunteers on the second floor of Concordia Place, as well as the Chaplin John Friesen for taking the care and time to be with my mother in her time of need. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. West on Thursday, March 19 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Arrangements in care of: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE (AT BOND) 224-1525
