Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT CASTLING It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of Robert Castling on March 13, 2009, at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 86 years. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Marian; son Michael (Mona) of Temecula, CA; daughters Suzanne of Winnipeg and Patricia of Pender Island, BC; three grandchildren: Sarah (Duane), Michael (Farha), and Jon; and four great-grandchildren. Robert was born on October 29, 1922 in Winnipeg and joined the Navy at the age of 17. He served on a Canadian Navy Corvette during the Second World War as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a self educated man who ran a very successful retail store. He loved his wife, family, car and golf (in that order)! He was a larger than life character, a demanding but supportive father, a loyal and loving husband and a good friend to those who knew him. In keeping with Robert's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life was held on Thursday, March 19, 2009, in Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 9Z9 or to a charity of one's choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086

Robert changed my life. Worked for him in store and his guidance and friendship stayed with me. He loved golf and we had many games together. - Posted by: Brian Gravenor (Friend) on: Aug 25, 2015
