STEVEN ANTON MILLER
Date of Passing: Mar 17, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVEN ANTON MILLER After a lengthy illness; it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Miller on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 83 years. Remaining to forever cherish Steve's memory are his wife of 59 years, Galina and their two daughters, Nina and Tamara (Bill); granddaughter Natasha; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Edith and Elizabeth; and son-in-law Michael. Steve was born in Zrenjanin, former Yugoslavia and immigrated to Canada in 1969. He developed a great love for Winnipeg and his adoptive country - Canada. From an office worker in his homeland, Steve took on a difficult trade - steam fitter, late in life and worked until retirement in 1990. Steve was proud of his contribution to the many significant building projects he was involved in over the years. Our Dad was known fondly as the Old Soldier by his workmates. An avid reader and collector, Dad could speak and read in five languages and passed on his love of books to his daughters. As a Second World War survivor, Dad had an immense interest in that era and searched for any reading materials that would help clarify that period in his life. In compliance with Steve's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the home care palliative nurses and doctors for their wonderful and respectful care given to Steve during his courageous battle. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Boniface CancerCare. To Those I Love and Those Who Loved Me When I am gone, release me, let me go ... I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I travelled on alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must; Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come, Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear, All of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say, Welcome Home.
