VERNA MAY SPARKS (nee JEFFRIES) Verna Sparks passed away at Deer Lodge Centre on March 23, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents Jim and Elsie Jeffries, her sister Edith, and brother-in-law Larus. She is survived by her nephew, Jim (Sherryl) and their sons Matthew and Christopher, and daughter Toby. Verna was born in Glenboro on May 9, 1921. Jeff entered into nursing in 1943. Upon graduation she worked at the General Hospital until she was chosen as Director of Nursing for The Cancer Foundation. She retired in 1986. Verna married Jack Sparks in 1949. They spent many happy years together participating at The Winnipeg Flying Club, enjoying their cottage in Lac du Bonnet every summer, and visiting Hawaii each winter. This past June, Jack and Verna celebrated their 59th anniversary, the last day they were able to spend together. We wish to thank all the staff on 6E at Deer Lodge Centre for such commendable care of Sparky , and for all the visits, cards and gifts from dear friends. Every gesture was greatly appreciated. A celebration of Verna's life will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn. Come with a story to tell us. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
