MANFRED HELBIG 1940 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father opa Manfred Helbig on March 23, 2009 at the age of 68 years. Manfred was born on August 25, 1940 in Greiz Thuringen, Germany. He and his wife Lieselotte along with their two eldest sons immigrated to Canada in 1965 from Hamburg, Germany. They made their home in Winnipeg. Manfred worked for over 40 years as a mechanic for import vehicles. They retired to their cottage in Lac du Bonnet in 2006. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 47 years Lieselotte and their four sons Thorsten (Louise), Sven (Judy), Olaf and Oliver, three grandchildren Logan, Quinn and Madison. Also surviving is a sister Irene (Rudiger) Schutzek and brother Edgar Helbig (Christel) both of Hamburg, Germany. Our gratitude to Dr. Spence with sincere thanks to all of the nurses and health care aids at the Pinawa Hospital, the empathy and compassion extended to Manfred and his family over the last month will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place and the family would like to invite friends and family to a come and go reception on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, Manitoba.
