Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR ERNEST GINTER It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Victor Ginter, age 58, as a result of a massive stroke at his residence, on April 3, 2009. Vic, as he was known to friends and family was predeceased by his father Jacob C. Ginter in 1980. He is survived by his mother Anne (Ginter) Sawatzky, brothers Ken (Rose), Marv (Sara) and Alvin (Marlene) and six nieces and two nephews. Vic grew up in Horndean, receiving his primary education in the old Horndean School and his secondary education at W.C. Miller Collegiate in Altona. The early years of his working career were spent in construction and mining in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Following this he attended and graduated from auto body repair and paint school in Brandon. This began a multi year career being employed with a number of body shops in Southern Manitoba and then building and operating his auto body and paint shop in the same location where he grew up in Horndean. He enjoyed the car restoration hobby which included owning a street rod and some classic automobiles. He also had a life long love of fishing and spent many enjoyable times with some of his closest friends. He was a special uncle to his nieces and nephews who enjoyed going to Horndean and playing with the white German shepherds. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Vic's name. The funeral service will be held in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Altona at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, with burial following the service at the Weidenfeld Cemetery.
