LINDA RUTH FORTESCUE January 14, 1949 - April 26, 2009 Suddenly, on Sunday April 26, 2009 after a short but courageous battle with cancer, Linda passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 60 years. Linda was predeceased by her father, Jack in 1982 and aunt Marjorie Rayner in 2009. Linda is survived by her mother, Grace Fortescue, aunt Cathy Fortescue and numerous cousins. Linda lived her whole life in Transcona. She graduated from Transcona Collegiate in 1967 and following her graduation, commenced a career with the Manitoba Telephone System, which spanned 33 years, until her retirement in 2002. Linda had many interests including genealogy, travelling and photography. She has many albums filled with photos that she had taken on her numerous trips throughout Canada, United States and Britain, to name a few. Her favourite recollection was her month long trip with her mom, to Australia and New Zealand. Linda had a great love of animals. She leaves behind her two special cats Casper and Midge , who will miss her greatly. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue, West. Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will follow at a later date at the Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda's memory to: The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T OR3.
